Working With Us

Our initial meeting

We’re so excited you’re considering working with The Weathering Observatory on your new project!

We like to have a brief 30 minute chat with our potential partners before committing to a project. This is offered free of charge. If, at the end, we feel that we’re not the right partner for you, we can usually make recommendations about who might be a better fit for your needs.

This conversation will be loosely based around understanding the following. We don’t expect that you’ll have clear cut answers to all these questions, but it will be helpful if you’ve given it some thought.

What’s the problem you’re trying to solve?

Sometimes you know exactly what you’re looking for from a project, sometimes it’s a bit unclear. In either case, it’s useful for us to start from a place of understanding the problem you’re trying to solve. If you also have some ideas about how we can help you solve that problem, we’re all ears! But knowing the bigger context of the problem itself could help us suggest innovative approaches or solutions.

What’s the data?

Cleaning and preparing the data is a huge part of any research or data investigations process. In order to give an accurate estimate of costs and timelines, it’s useful for us to know the state of the data. Are you looking for us to collect the data? Do you have data already available?

If you have data, sending us a small sample can make it easier to understand what might need to be done to it?

What’s the deliverable?

In the end, what are you hoping to get out of the project? Is this one part of a larger report? Are you hoping to generate a press release? A PDF report? A website? What will the audience be?
